About Me

Hello, my name is Arpita Choudhury and The Science of Illustration is my blog. As a kid I was fascinated by biology (particularly the aquatic world) and art. Eventually I studied marine biology during my undergraduate years and focused on molecular biology in graduate school but continued to paint and sketch. After a few years at the lab bench I shifted gears to fish and wildlife policy with a focus on climate change, wildlife disease, and other critical conservation issues.

Currently I am focusing on science communication and visual art. This blog focuses on my two passions, science and art. I love to read about current scientific findings and issues and think about how I could visually interpret them. I am particularly fond of writing and drawing about ecological and conservation issues. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in a commission or collaboration.

  1. Hi Arpita, I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. As a fellow artist and marine scientist I love your artistic interpretation! Science communication was definitely the reason I started my blog as well. There’s just not enough of it!
